Still More Design Riches (Part IV)This year we concluded a three year design affair with a unique, high powered individual (echoes of Tom Wolfe’s “Masters of the Universe,” perhaps?). He and his wife (whom he married during the process) challenged us to create one of the most elaborate and highly detailed master suites in my design life. About 7,500 square feet, this suite has an unrivaled closet for her, a spectacular bathroom for each of them, the largest bedroom I have ever worked on, a sitting room/media area, a bar/lounge, a colonnaded rotunda, a kitchen, a utility room….all just as a master suite. The richest woods, most sumptuous fabrics, deep aniline dyes on premium mahogany paneling, inlaid mirrors, hand carved cabinets, moldings, and details, custom plaster work ceilings, highly detailed and gilded….you name it….this is a spectacular place.
The colonnaded rotunda...
the impressive ceiling millwork...
stunning inlaid floors...
and beautiful flowers...
Her sublime bathroom boasts a delicious palette of pearly whites and blushing pinks.
The artfully molded ceiling in her bathroom further enhanced by artisan gilding and mirrored insets.
